HELP  RALPH  RESTORE  THE  SPEEDER!
The Northwestern Pacific Railroad Historical Society, Inc. (N.W.P. R.R.H.S.)
and the Petaluma Trolley Living History Railway Museum  (P. T.L.H.R.M.)
are debuting a training program designed to put the 'train' back in training

As part of their ongoing restoration education mandate, they've given the go ahead for Ralph to restore this FAIRMONT SPEEDER..While he has changed
a tire or two and a set of sparkplugs on his PT Cruiser (and once audited a
4-stroke engine repair class in college), he's never taken on a mechanical job requiring this much attention to detail. He certainly has had his share of jobs commanding attention to detail. After all, he's a book editor by profession. But nothing on the order of restoring a classic Speeder.

The N.W.P.R.R.H.S.'s secretary, Archives manager, and Board of Directors member, Gus Campagna, and the P.T.L.H.R.M.'s curator, Richard Fries, have given Ralph the goal of completing the full restoration in two (2) years beginning September 30, 2016 and ready-for-rails on September 30, 2018. Can he do it? If he's going to pull it off, he's going to need a little help. That where YOU come in.

From the first loosened hex bolt, Ralph intends to video document every step of the restoration. But before he picks up that crescent wrench, he wants to make sure he's done his homework.  So during the next few weeks, and throughout the two years to follow, Ralph will invite you to tell him how he should restore a Speeder.  On the project's Facebook page, he invites you to share everything you know. He'll immerse himself in every suggestion for the right steps to the best sources for parts and post updates to his restoration plan every week.

I've Googled parts sources and come up with the following so far:.

HOW TO START A FAIRMONT ENGINE WITH A CRANK WITHOUT LOSING YOUR HAND
as demonstrated by cbt1960
How a 2-stroke engine works:

1st stroke
The compressed fuel-air mixture ignites and thereby the piston is pressed down. At the same time the intake port I is covered by the piston. Now the new mixture in the crankcase becomes precompressed. Shortly before the piston approaches the lower dead centre, the exhaust port and the overflow conduit are uncovered.
Being pressurized in the crankcase
the mixture rushes into the cylinder displacing the consumed mixture (exhaust now).
How a 2-stroke engine works:

2nd stroke
The piston is moving up. The overflow conduit and the exhaust port are covered, the mixture in the cylinder is compressed. At the same time new fuel-air mixture is sucked into the crankcase.

By means of a crank shaft the up and down motion is converted into a rotational motion.
